As a fluorine chemical enterprise, sulfuric acid, hydrogen fluoride, and difluoromethane have already formed an industrial chain. In order to further extend this chain, discussions are underway regarding the use of the waste salts generated during the production of difluoromethane – by reacting the HCl gas produced from these salts with liquid SO3 in sulfuric acid plants – to produce chlorosulfonic acid.
