The outlet pipe of the reciprocating compressor vibrates severely. How to handle it
Reasons: (1) The buffer tank has a small designed capacity, resulting in poor gas buffering effect. (2) The second-order natural frequency of the air column in the pipeline is close to the excitation frequency, resulting in resonance. Since the installation was already in place, and given that significant modifications to the operating equipment were not possible, the system achieved good vibration reduction by reinforcing the pipes and buffer tanks that suffered from severe vibration, thereby increasing the stiffness of the piping system and altering its vibration frequency. The following modifications were specifically carried out: 1) The support for the pipeline was changed to a saddle support [5], with a 3 mm thick rubber pad placed in between to improve the tightening quality; additional support was also provided for the suspended pipeline to enhance its stiffness. 2) Two wraps are added to the original saddle-shaped support of the exhaust buffer tank to apply a downward pull on the tank, thereby reducing the amplitude of its vertical vibrations; a 3 mm thick rubber pad is placed between the saddle-shaped base and the buffer tank. 3) Construct tension rods to connect the pipeline supports (made of cement), in order to increase their stiffness. 4) Replace the cooling water pipelines leading to the compressor with stainless steel hoses to enhance their flexibility
