Ammonium sulfide and ammonium disulfide are generated in the hydrogenation reactor; the reaction products pass through heat exchangers before being cooled by air. Crystallization of ammonium salts occurs in the last heat exchanger and during air cooling, which can block the heat exchangers and air cooling pipes.
The H2S and NH3 generated during the hydrogenation process form ammonium salts; therefore, it is generally advisable to inject water at temperatures above 180°C to prevent blockages caused by these ammonium salts.
It is generally believed in industrial production that the two ammonium salts, ammonium chloride and ammonium hydrosulfide, are formed; I was wondering if you know where ammonium disulfide is produced. Thank you!
