According to the new version of the petroleum storage code GB50074-2014, arch roof tanks can be used when the maximum storage temperature for aviation fuel is five degrees or less below its flash point. I’m stuck here – in the north, like in Harbin, there’s no problem, but my project is in the south. How can I determine the storage temperature? In the southern region, the maximum summer temperature is 38 degrees; with the sun shining directly on the oil tanks, what temperature can the oil inside those tanks reach? I think it could be considered as a vaulted tank. Set the storage temperature yourself to no more than 33 degrees. Activate the temperature interlock cooling water spray; cooling water should start to be sprayed once the temperature inside the tank reaches 30 degrees. Additionally, applying thermal insulation coatings to the storage tanks also has a certain effect.
If the existing dome tank can be used, isn’t it sufficient to install a floating disk? In this case, there’s no need to create something new; just make some modifications!

Thank you for your reply. The enterprise in the mountains has been using that oil depot for decades; this is the first time it’s being renovated. It took a full 6 years, from the preliminary studies to the construction plans. There’s no money available – we have to save every penny, cutting costs bit by bit
If the oil tank can still be used, we’re just grateful; who knows what might happen after any repairs are made. Moreover, the owner doesn’t agree to carry out those repairs.
