Pre-cooling in the cold box: The temperature drops slowly at first. 3-5 degrees per hour; at what temperature can the speed be increased? Why?
It depends on your process medium and operational requirements. In ethylene plants, cold boxes are used; heat medium should be introduced first, before the cold medium. The pre-cooling speed should be as slow as possible; it’s fine as long as it’s not too fast.
