Regarding early-stage technology and market aspects versus later-stage project issues, which is more important?

I’ve been facing some troubles lately; the company is a small one that deals with general contracting projects. In the eyes of the boss, technology is king! Market first! The design and engineering can just be done carelessly! Therefore, more than half of the company’s employees work in the R&D and marketing departments, while there are fewer designers and construction workers. The consequence of this is a large number of problems arising in later project phases, making it impossible to operate the vehicles, and increased investment costs. The owner is not happy either; he often scolds us! It’s basically a one-time deal! Yet leaders at all levels continue to act on their own, failing to strengthen the capabilities in design and engineering. Most of the people in the R&D departments are recent graduates or have only worked for two or three years. In the eyes of these leaders and those in R&D, design and engineering are considered menial tasks, while they themselves deal with technical work! Let’s take a look – is this abnormal development? . . No matter how good or numerous the technologies are. . If the project doesn’t succeed or the market collapses, how can the company continue to develop? . Besides, this technology isn’t some unique or advanced technique either! Just like when it comes to eating, there is fish and meat available, but if the food prepared isn’t tasty, customers won’t want to eat it again after trying it once – how can business thrive under such circumstances? :L
