When producing electrolytic zinc using zinc oxide material from Guangxi, zinc powder cannot completely displace copper from the solution during the leaching and purification process of this reducing-type zinc oxide material. Has anyone encountered this issue? Additionally, when using zinc oxide material to produce electrolytic zinc, since the material contains a certain amount of indium (0.15%) and tin (0.22%), we employ extraction–back-extraction–replacement–melting processes to produce crude indium. After back-extraction, the organic phase is treated with 10M salt acid; the indium concentration in the resulting indium extract is 35 grams per liter, while the tin concentration is 2 grams per liter. The indium content in the crude indium produced reaches 99%. A friend of mine’s factory has an indium concentration of 35 grams per liter in their extract, with a tin concentration of over 40 grams per liter. Is there any way to separate indium from tin in such extracts? Approximately how much of the tin in the zinc oxide material ends up in the acid-leached residue? How much of the tin in the original solution gets extracted, and how much ends up in the indium extract? How can tin be recovered as sponge tin? Do anyone have any effective process flows or better technical methods for recovering valuable metals (mainly indium and tin) from zinc oxide? Feel free to share your ideas!

The extraction of indium and the separation of indium from tin are well-established processes. As for the purification step involving the replacement of zinc in the zinc leachate with zinc powder, incomplete removal of copper occurs; theoretically, there must be an issue somewhere in this process. Could you please provide information on the composition of the supernatant?
We plan to recover indium from zinc oxide dust! ! Your tin content is relatively high! Indium and tin can be separated! The answers are already given on the previous floors! It depends on your purpose – where do you want to make the split? If they are not separated, it’s difficult to know how to handle them later. If vacuum distillation equipment is available, separating them there works just as well, with excellent results! I plan for us to carry out the replacement together later, then in the vacuum furnace!
