Hello everyone! Our company has four liquefied hydrocarbon pumps that were placed in a tank at -2 meters depth due to issues with the net positive suction head; however, the density of liquefied hydrocarbons is greater than that of air. What measures can be taken to ensure the safety of this tank, and how can the accumulation of flammable gases be addressed?
Positive pressure ventilation is provided by adding coiled tubes (holes) at the bottom of the pool.

Therefore, it is recommended to install an inclined-flow fan, which should be turned on before the gas enters the tank to facilitate ventilation. Of course, it is essential to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
First of all, what you’re doing is wrong! Flammable hydrocarbons are not allowed to be discharged casually; they must be collected and treated in a controlled manner. An accident tank must be installed on-site! A combustible gas alarm is definitely necessary!
Safety first; recycling tanks or recycling pipelines are necessary. Discharging it into sewers is something too horrible to even imagine
It’s best to replace the pump; in the current situation, the risk of gas accumulation in case of an accident is too high.
