Here, we use the Cansolv wet flue gas desulfurization technology to remove sulfur dioxide. However, the plate heat exchangers for the rich amine solution and the poor amine solution at the outlet of the scrubber tower often get clogged. Tests have shown that the substance causing these blockages is elemental sulfur. How does elemental sulfur form, and what are the ways to address this issue?
Sulfur dioxide is oxidizing and can react with hydrogen sulfide to produce elemental sulfur. SO2+2H2S=3S+2H2O. I’m not sure if it’s feasible to increase the alkalinity concentration of the absorption solution.
How can the alkalinity of the absorption solution be increased? High requirements are placed on such solutions, and adding substances that alter their alkalinity can cause the solution to deteriorate
We use liquid caustic solution and lime, so we don’t have this problem.

It must be the residual H2S and SO2 in the feed gas that react to form sulfur. The pre-washing tower should be adjusted to remove as much H2S as possible. I wonder what type of feed gas the original poster is using?
