Fine material balance and coarse material balance

This is my first time encountering detailed material balance and gross material balance. May I ask everyone, what does “detailed/gross” refer to here?
As I understand it, gross material balance refers to the overall balance between raw materials and products, intermediates, as well as waste materials. Fine material balance refers to the balance between raw materials and various components at each stage.
