Why is continuous discharge necessary for the circulating water tank?
The discharge from the circulating water tank is carried out based on turbidity and the amount of sediment accumulated at the bottom; it is done 2–3 times per year, with no continuous discharge. If discharging wastewater continuously will inevitably increase the water replenishment volume, it is rather wasteful.
Is it because of the increase in turbidity in the circulating water tank or the rise in water temperature? There’s no reason for continuous wastewater discharge.
1. As the circulating cooling water passes through the cooling tower, its water content is continuously concentrated, and the water that evaporates contains no salts. As the evaporation process proceeds, the dissolved salts in the circulating cooling water become increasingly concentrated, raising the salt content and potentially leading to scaling and corrosion. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously remove a portion of the circulating water and add fresh water to maintain a certain salinity level. 2. In a cooling tower, water comes into direct contact with air; as the water passes through the cooling tower, it washes a large amount of dust from the air into the water, increasing the turbidity of the circulating water. Some of this dust settles as sludge at the bottom of equipment, pipes, and tanks. Therefore, a portion of the water must be removed to prevent the accumulation of large amounts of sludge. 3. During operation, chemical agents are continuously added to the cooling water. Leaks of process fluids, as well as pollutants and impurities in the water, cause the water quality to deteriorate; therefore, it is necessary to remove some of the circulating water and replace it with fresh water to keep the levels of contaminants and impurities within acceptable limits.

That’s absolutely correct. The prerequisite for operating circulating water systems is to rely on monitoring data; when such data shows abnormalities, it is necessary to actively identify the causes and address them. Relying on continuous discharge to achieve water replacement is not a viable approach, as it leads to significant waste of water and chemicals.
Is continuous discharge being used for pre-film replacement? Under normal operation, continuous discharge of waste water certainly does not occur, unless a fault occurs.
The sludge hopper is too small, resulting in a large amount of sludge being produced; this leads to a short residence time for the sludge. Therefore, continuous sludge discharge is necessary, and this discharge can be adjusted manually.
