Manager Wang from Wuhan bought a stainless steel vertical check valve from me a few days ago. This morning, he called me anxiously to ask whether this check valve was suitable for use in his pipelines. It’s more or less like this: the pipes are installed horizontally, and the pressure is very low, at around 0.6 MPa. In such conditions, can a vertical check valve be used? My advice to Manager Wang is that a vertical type can be used, but generally vertical check valves are installed perpendicular to the pipes. Therefore, if a vertical check valve is used, the spring inside it needs to be removed; however, in terms of performance, this approach won’t be very effective – the valve disc will have difficulty opening, and it won’t be able to prevent backflow completely. It is recommended to replace the check valve, preferably with a horizontal one. A horizontal check valve is installed horizontally along the pipeline; it is easy to open and close the valve disc, allowing it to effectively prevent backflow.

In terms of the pipeline layout, it is more appropriate to use a straight-through lift-type check valve; using a vertical lift-type valve would require changes to the pipeline layout. However, a pressure of 0.6 MPa is not low at all; in many of our projects we deal with media under such conditions, and installing a vertical lift-type check valve of type H42W-16P at the pump outlet poses no problem whatsoever.
The original poster gave a great suggestion; I’ve learned it! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
It is recommended to change it to the H41 type. Did you sell the H42 type to the customer? The pipeline pressure is perfectly fine; 6 bar is a quite high pressure.
A pressure of 0.6 MPa is not considered low; you should explain the pressure drop of the check valve.
The H41 type check valve, that is, the horizontal lift-type check valve, can be used
It’s mainly about the installation direction of the pipes. The best one is still the H44, I guess
I replaced it with an H44 for the customer; it’s already in use and there are no issues. 、
