On July 16, 2015, the inauguration ceremony for Bazhou Dongchen Group’s Circular Economy Industrial Park and the commissioning ceremony for the 1 million tons per year coal-to-methanol project (with an initial capacity of 300,000 tons per year) were held. The project is located in Luntai County, Bortala Prefecture, Xinjiang. The first phase involves an investment of around 1.2 billion yuan to build a coal-to-methanol plant with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons, along with the construction of a coal mine with a capacity of 3 million tons. The approximate investment ratio should be: syngas production (including gasification, purification, and cooling) accounting for 60% of the total investment, methanol synthesis accounting for 10%, methanol distillation accounting for 10%, and utility services accounting for 20%.
