The end caps were removed, and water was used for pressure testing inside the shell side; it was observed which pipe had water leaking out to confirm the result. Generally, only the ends can be sealed; (if there is a leak at the tube sheet weld, it might be possible to perform repair welding,) and then pressure testing can be carried out.

Just take a look at the assembly diagram of the heat exchanger to find out. You must know the two-phase process, right?
Agree with what was said on the second floor; I’ve done this before and missed sealing the pipes at both ends.
