For pressure vessels, if a single plate is not sufficient, another plate must be joined to it. What is the minimum length in millimeters for such a joining plate? I remember there were values of 300 and 500. On which page can I find the minimum size required for joining?
The length of the tube section refers to the width direction of the sheet metal (the transverse direction); the length of the joined plates (in the length direction of the sheet metal, i.e., the longitudinal direction) should be more than 3 times the thickness of the steel material, and not less than 100 mm.
Is there any standard basis for what you mentioned?
It is sufficient to meet the spacing requirement between adjacent welds; in other words, as mentioned above, it should be 3 times the thickness of the steel material, with a minimum value of 100 mm. This is specified in detail in Part 4 of standard 150.
