Is it correct that film stress exists only away from the junction between the cylinder and the head? I think it’s incorrect; I hope fellow sailors can give me some advice.
I also think it’s incorrect; film stress exists at the structural discontinuities as well, though there are other stresses as well
Incorrect; there is film stress in many places. Please refer to JB/4732, Table 4-1 on P14
Simply put: in general, far from discontinuities (>1.0(Rt)^1/2), it is the (global) film stress, Pm; at discontinuities, it is the (local) film stress, PL
I agree with the original poster’s view and also think it is incorrect
Of course it’s incorrect; there are local film stresses in certain areas, while the stresses in areas farther away should be considered as overall film stresses
