Are there any requirements for the cooling water of mechanical seals?

As the title says! Is there a difference between the flushing water and the cooling water for mechanical seals? What are the requirements for each? Is there a standard code? Help!
There is a difference: some rinsing fluids consist of white oil, while others use the medium inside the pump – cooling water; in that case, it can only be water intended for industrial use.
The main requirement for the basic sealing cooling water is that it should not be discharged, in order to avoid increasing the amount of production wastewater; it should be recycled as much as possible.
The flushing water should not contain particles that could cause wear to the mechanical seal
