The system has been stopped from receiving water for 3 months, but a small amount of wastewater containing ammonia nitrogen enters daily due to valve leaks. It has been found to have very weak nitrification capacity, but no denitrification capacity, as aeration was continued during the water shutdown period. Currently, TN is 130 mg/L and TP is 4.5 mg/L; the target levels are TN 50 mg/L and TP 3 mg/L. What measures should be taken to restore normal water inflow?
The water inflow rate should be increased gradually from low to high; if the inflow is too high, it will result in an excessive shock load that can cause system failures.
