Could there be any problems if the filtrate from pressure filters used in wastewater treatment is returned to the sludge tank for an extended period of time?

The wastewater from oil and wax removal cleaning processes goes through the following treatment stages: oil separation – inclined tube sedimentation tank – air flotation – hydrolysis and acidification – secondary contact oxidation – final sedimentation tank – sand filtration – discharge. Due to inadequate planning during the design of this project, the regulating tank and the sludge tank are located too far apart; as a result, the filtrate from the filter press cannot be returned to the regulating tank and must instead be sent back to the sludge tank. What problems might arise from operating in this manner over the long term?
The filtrate will eventually fill the sludge tank.
It flows back to the sludge tank; it will overflow sooner or later. If the amount of filtrate is not large, it can be tried to be stored in a tank and then pumped into other tanks.
The filtrate entering the sludge tank reduces the sludge concentration in it.
It’s not known whether there is a sludge thickening tank; if one exists and the supernatant is returned to the regulation tank, then it has little impact.
The filtrate can also be collected and pumped back to the regulation tank.
When the filtrate returns to the sludge tank, it will dilute the sludge concentration; it’s better to keep them separate.
If the filter press uses a submerged filter plate, the material can be directly pressurized and transported to the regulation tank.
