Weld the outside first, then the inside. 3. How many weld layers are generally allowed for large pipes? The layers of the weld are determined based on the welding process (welding method, diameter of welding materials, etc.), weld thickness, and other factors. You’re asking in the wrong direction. It has nothing to do with whether it’s a large tube or a small tube.
