Dear teachers: Hello. First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I have been working in coal quality analysis for 2 years, and I have yet to figure out how to choose standard coal samples. In our region, lignite is the main type of coal produced, with a calorific value of 3000–4000 kcal per unit, and a sulfur content ranging from 0.2 to 1.5%. I would like to ask those of you who have experience what considerations should be taken into account when selecting standard coal. Thank you in advance for your answers.

The selected standard coal value must be close to the actual value; the standard coal value for calorific value and the standard coal value for sulfur need not be the same, so it is necessary to choose separate standard coal values for each.
