Dear experts, our company plans to produce electronic-grade nickel sulfate, with 80% nickel in the solution, 0.5% cobalt, and iron and manganese levels between 0.1–0.4%. The concentrations of calcium and magnesium are 0.5 and 0.6 g/l respectively. We intend to use 204 for impurity removal and 507 for removing cobalt; in this process, should we use sodium soap or nickel soap? Are the operating conditions the same for nickel soaps and sodium soaps? Can sodium soaps cause an excess of sodium in nickel sulfate? Thank you all for your help
It is entirely possible to consider using resin for impurity removal; the cobalt content in your sample is not high. If an extraction process is used, the impact of entrainment on nickel loss will need to be evaluated. Our company has had such technology in the past.
First sodium soap, saponification, then nickel soap, saponification. Sodium light soap – the amount of sodium is definitely far above the limit. If the liquid nickel sulfate used in nickel soaps is well controlled, very little sodium will be introduced, and this will not affect the quality of the nickel sulfate.
