The anoxic-oxic process is the most basic nitration and denitrification process for nitrogen removal. In the anoxic zone, denitrifying bacteria use the organic carbon in the wastewater as an electron donor and *AO acids as electron acceptors to carry out \"anaerobic respiration,\" reducing nitrate nitrogen in the return stream to nitrogen gas, thereby completing the denitrification process ; In the aerobic stage, nitrifying bacteria oxidize ammonia nitrogen in the wastewater into nitrate, which is then returned to the anoxic tank to prepare for denitrification. In this way, the microorganisms in the anoxic zone and the aerobic zone do not mix with each other; they remain in their optimal ecological environments at all times, free from the inhibitory effects of alternating anaerobic and aerobic conditions. So, the oxidized substances in the anoxic zone are provided by the reflux flow, which comes from the aerobic zone that follows it. This applies to reactors like SBRs; in an SBR reactor, nitrification and denitrification take place in the same tank, so they do not interfere with each other (I asked my university professor about this – I didn’t figure it out at first)
I haven’t figured it out. However, here, both Pool A and Pool O are earthy yellow in color, clearly indicating that they are aerobic pools.
