When aligning the water pump, stainless steel shims are placed under the motor’s feet. Are there any requirements regarding the number and thickness of these shims? If so, what are the relevant standards or specifications? Thank you
What are the thickness standards for gaskets? I haven’t heard of it; based on experience, thickness specifications such as 0.1mm, 0.2mm, 0.5mm, 1mm, etc. are required
Generally, no more than 4 pieces per group are allowed; the height of each group should be between 3 and 5 cm. Shims should be placed at intervals of 50 cm around the fastening bolts on the motor base; if the distance is less than 50 cm, one set of shims is still considered. The shims should be positioned near the fastening bolts, and each set consists of 1–2 flat steel plates and 2 inclined steel plates (commonly known as angle irons); During assembly, 1 to 2 plates (preferably 1) with a thickness of 1 to 3 cm and dimensions of 12*12 cm (or 20*20 cm) should be placed at the lower part, while 2 inclined plates with a thickness of 0.8 to 1.6 cm and dimensions of 6*12 cm (or 12*12 cm) should be placed at the upper part. The contact area between the inclined plates must be no less than 70% of the surface area of one side of each inclined plate ; After the motor base is aligned, the gasket set should be welded vertically on both sides (preferably on both sides), and the exposed length of the base shall not exceed 3 cm.
