Our fire water pipes are above ground, covered only with insulation. What methods can be used in winter to prevent the water in the pipes from freezing? Require economic simplicity
Fire water generally doesn’t freeze, as the water pumps keep running continuously.
Try to avoid dead zones; the pump cycle must not stop.
There is a high possibility of the fire-fighting water freezing; even if the pump keeps running, it only helps to maintain pressure, and under normal conditions the water does not flow. Pipes with a larger diameter only need insulation, while smaller outdoor pipes may require heat tracing.
Try to open the fire hydrant a bit so that water can flow out
