These compressors are much larger than ours; are some of the even larger compressors (like those in the first picture) not designed to be skid-mounted?
Yes, most of the domestically produced units are of 16 tons or less and come in skid-mounted form; I guess it’s because there are concerns about the skid components deforming, as well as issues related to lack of design experience and transportation difficulties. However, many foreign-brand compressors, even those large ones with a capacity of one to two thousand kilowatts, can also be installed in a split skid-mounted configuration.
