On-site feedback: during pipeline pressure testing, there were instances where the pressure gauges were damaged. May I ask whether it is necessary to close the root valve of the pressure gauge during testing? Are there any mandatory regulations?
Instrumentation devices are not allowed to participate in pipeline pressure tests. Including pressure gauges, check valves, safety valves, flow meters, probes, and so on
When testing the pipeline for pressure, the pressure gauge must be removed.
May I ask if there are any explicit regulations requiring it to be removed?
When conducting pressure testing, we also participate in it in order to check the quality of the threads on the pressure gauge connections as well as the welds; the approach taken is to use a pressure gauge with a larger range.
During pressure testing, the pressure gauge and valves should be removed and plugged with plugs.
Take them all off and store them properly; put them back in place neatly after the pressure test is completed.
The pressure testing is supposed not to exceed the design pressure, but in reality, for many low-pressure systems, gauges with a relatively large range are used in order to obtain more accurate readings. In such cases, it is better to use a gauge with a larger range during pressure testing, rather than shutting off the manual valve.

All instruments should be removed during pipeline purging and pressure testing.
Which pressure gauge was damaged? For testing or for production? According to the manufacturer’s instructions for pressure gauges used in production, those that are not specified as being part of the testing process must be removed; for those for which no such specification exists, it is best to remove them according to the client’s requirements. For testing purposes, just close the root valve and replace it.
