Currently, the level gauge at the horizontal separator of the natural gas pipeline in the station needs to be removed, and then the opening should be sealed with a flange cover. The design pressure for our pipelines is 10 Mpa; during normal operation, the pressure is around 8.3 Mpa. The pipe diameter is DN25, the pressure class is 900, and the material used is 16Mn. I am now planning to order such flange covers from a manufacturer. When the manufacturer delivers them, what documentation do I need from them in order to carry out the acceptance process? I have just started working with instrumentation, and I’m not very familiar with many things. Anyone who knows about this could please give me some advice

For pressures above 10 Mpa, I’ve seen in the relevant standards that forged parts require ultrasonic testing reports for each individual piece. My question is: could you specify what kind of certification documents and testing reports are needed in cases like this?

Based on what the original poster has described, these flanges should not fall within the scope of work related to instrumentation and control; ordering and inspection should be handled by the process or mechanical engineering teams, with the instrumentation and control team providing only the requirements and relevant information. However, for actual implementation, it is necessary to refer to the acceptance specifications for pressure vessels (even though it may not fall under the category of pressure vessels). The following documents should be available: 1. As-built drawings; 2. Calculation reports; 3. Quality certification along with a copy of the nameplate; 4. Calibration certificates and relevant monitoring and calibration reports (such as welding inspection reports); 5. User manuals and lists of tools and accessories. Still, I recommend that the person in question hire a reputable design firm to carry out the design work, with the process engineering team handling the actual implementation.

The enterprise must be qualified, and the products must come with quality certification documents; it is advisable to have inspection certificates as well.
If purchasing flanges externally, find a qualified and reputable manufacturer, and provide them with your process parameters: including the nominal pressure rating, flange dimensions, composition of the fluid in contact with the flange, and the material of the flange. Attach a floor plan of the flange as well. What you are asking the manufacturer to do is to provide you with proof of qualifications, performance records, as well as testing capabilities before placing an order (no special requirements for this); moreover, when the flanges arrive at your site, the manufacturer must also provide a valid test report or certificate. Additionally, depending on the situation, you also need to decide whether matching bolts are required.
