CaCO3 is a white powder or colorless crystals; it has no odor or taste. There are two types of crystals: aragonite, which is an orthorhombic crystal, and calcite, which is a hexagonal rhombohedral crystal. It decomposes into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide at around 825°C. It is soluble in dilute acids but almost insoluble in water.
