I would like to ask the seniors: I’ve noticed that some hoses, equipment, etc. have relevant information on their nameplates. It was found that most devices have only a design pressure and no operating pressure. Of course, we select equipment with a design pressure appropriate to the actual working pressure. Suppose I need to choose a hose, and the maximum operating pressure at the site is 8 KG. What design pressure should the hose have? (The higher the pressure, the safer it is, right?) Is there any standard or guideline for this? Additionally, it seems that for pressure tests, it is required that the hydrostatic test be conducted at 1.5 times the design pressure. Does this mean that in normal use, the pressure can exceed the design pressure but remain below the test pressure? I would appreciate your advice.
The design pressure is generally taken as 1.05–1.10 times the operating pressure. The design pressure must not be exceeded (except during pressure testing, which involves brief exposure to pressure)
The equipment strength pressure test is 1.5 times the design pressure. The actual pressure must not exceed the design pressure. The relevant ASME standards can be consulted
