How do optical fibers get into a switch?

Hello, experts. I’m just starting to get familiar with switches. How does fiber optic cable get into the switch? My preliminary understanding is that the optical fiber first enters the fiber optic splicer, then the photoelectric converter, followed by the firewall, and finally the switch; in this case, the switch does not have optical interface modules. If the switch has fiber interface modules, is it connected directly? I’m not sure if my understanding is correct; please give me some guidance, thanks!
If the switch has fiber optic interfaces, it is necessary to determine whether the fibers used are single-mode or multi-mode. The type of connector at the end of the fiber (square or round) also needs to be taken into consideration, and a fiber termination box is required for the fiber ends.
