One of our company’s reaction systems involves adding 1,700 kg of 50% NaOH per batch during the reaction process. Approximately 6,000 kg of wastewater containing 14–15% NaOH is generated (water is added during the reaction), along with a small amount of organic matter. There are two existing methods for treating this wastewater: 1) Adding sulfuric acid to neutralize it, resulting in a sodium sulfate solution, which is then evaporated to obtain sodium sulfate crystals; however, this method requires high energy and incurs high costs; 2. Evaporate and concentrate the 15% NaOH wastewater to 50% for reuse, but there is concern that organic substances may affect the reaction. Do any of you experts have any good suggestions?

If the original poster has the means, they can conduct some experiments to determine whether organic substances have an impact on the reaction products. By using the first batch of wastewater to prepare the alkaline solution, it is possible to reuse part of that alkaline solution
