During normal operation of a pulverized coal gasifier, what should be done if a corner valve for pulverized coal becomes blocked and as a result the amount of coal supplied decreases? Open the large-angle block valve to allow it to pass through ; Should we keep the angle valve open and increase the coal supply to the remaining coal lines, allowing for abrasive scouring to prevent clogging of the burners?
It depends on the type of gasification furnace being used; generally, manual operation is employed, and the valves are opened to see if any foreign objects can pass through. If that doesn’t work, then either just one burner will be shut down or the entire system will be stopped.
In case of mild blockage, the angle valve can be turned on and off repeatedly to flush it (to bypass the single burner interlock); if this does not resolve the issue, the unit needs to be taken offline for blockage removal
Generally, start by opening the angle valve that is causing the blockage to see if the foreign object can pass through. If that doesn’t work, the only option is to increase the coal supply to the other burners in order to maintain the furnace temperature and load; the angle valve then needs to be removed while the system is still in operation
Will shutting off a corner valve for offline maintenance have a significant impact on the flow field inside the gasification furnace?
Turning off one route will definitely have an impact, but production should be able to continue for a short period of time; once the issues are resolved, that route can be put back into use. This approach ensures continuous operation of the system, and it brings economic benefits!
