30 m3 per day is sufficient; under normal circumstances it’s around 25 m3 per day
Considering the sulfur content of the blended coal, the hydrogen sulfide level in the gas before the tower, and the content of by-products in the desulfurization solution, 30 m³/d should be sufficient under normal conditions.
All the experts say that 30 is sufficient, but why do my calculations show 35–50 m3? Additionally, some experts have pointed out that it is necessary to consider the levels of hydrogen sulfide and by-products. In my view, increasing the amount of salts is intended to maintain relative balance in the system; the key factor remains the system’s capacity for handling gas, that is, its production capacity. Removing all the salts can actually affect the operation of the desulfurization system, and it’s also problematic when sulfur bubbles cannot form.
The problem now is: how to deal with the impure salts after salt extraction? Now that many factories have started producing salt, there is no market for it. The factories are all filled to capacity and can’t handle any more. Production had to be halted.
At present, mixed salts can only be blended with coking coal and burned; they have no economic value for sale outside. It’s said that even if refined salt can be sold to make some money, it’s not enough to cover the electricity costs. There’s nothing to do
Salt recovery from desulfurization wastewater: currently, there is no market or price for these two types of salts or mixed salts, which increases the burden on enterprises. Moreover, environmental protection authorities have not given any clear guidelines regarding this technology. It is recommended to implement projects for producing sulfuric acid from sulfur paste and wastewater; this can meet the needs of ammonium sulfate production, enable a closed-loop system, and completely resolve the desulfurization issue.
