Our company wants to install inverted check valves on the top of the acid storage tanks, so that the tanks can only allow air to enter and not exit, thereby preventing a negative pressure from forming inside the tanks. We have pipes connecting to the air intake tower for the exhaust air; however, due to the weight of the inverted valves, it’s not possible to connect them directly to the top of the tanks. Connecting them through pipes in an inverted manner raises concerns about acid droplets falling down. We are considering placing the valves horizontally – is this feasible?
Personally, I think it’s not feasible – the pressure drop is too high, so air can’t get in.
I’m not quite sure why a pressure drop occurs. Moreover, the operating pressure for a flap-type check valve should be quite low, right? I’m not very familiar with this aspect; I hope you can provide some guidance
What pressure is required for this check valve to open!
Why not use a breather valve? You just need to use a breathing valve that allows only inhalation and no exhalation.

A breather valve can meet the requirements; it is also known as an air intake and exhaust valve or an air valve. It is generally used in long-distance water pipelines to remove excess air from within the pipes and to prevent negative pressure from causing the pipes to collapse. As for whether salt acid tanks can be used, one must ask the manufacturer
We considered using a breathing valve at first, but the valve manufacturer we worked with did not have such valves, and the management thought that breathing valves might be a bit more expensive. Salt acid is a by-product of our factory, and the management really doesn’t want to spend another penny; every bit saved counts. We contacted the valve manufacturer we work with, and they said it should be possible in theory. We decided to try using one first; if it doesn’t work, then we’ll purchase a breathing valve.
