A special welding method is used; in conventional welding, the arc is a free arc, and only a portion of the gas in the arc region is ionized, resulting in insufficient concentration of heat. When a free arc is compressed into an arc with high energy density, the gas in the arc column becomes fully ionized, resulting in a state that contains only positive and negative ions – this is the fourth state of matter: plasma. For pressure pipes, replacement is definitely necessary. Obstacle welding can be used with mirrors, but it requires high skills from the welder. Creating a skylight in large pipes is another option
The common welding methods are ordinary electric welding and laser welding. If there are indeed leaks that need to be addressed, it is first necessary to analyze the properties of the medium in question; if it is flammable or explosive, welding it directly is definitely not an option, as it can be fatal. Therefore, each situation must be handled on a case-by-case basis, and it is crucial to first determine what method should be used to address the problem.
If it is not possible to make improvements in the working space – such as lifting the pipes or digging holes in the floor – and mirror welding cannot be used either, then it is necessary to consider using small automatic welding heads that are cost-effective. As a last resort, the pipe section with defects must be cut off, ensuring that the required weld distance is still met; of course, new ring-shaped welds also facilitate welding in all positions. The cut pipes can also be rewelded, pressure-tested, and used as spare parts.

Small pipes: Welding repairs are not possible – the pipe must be replaced outright. Another option is to use sleeve-type repairs, and welding fillet joints are relatively easier to handle in terms of quality control.
