Before starting a circulating fluidized bed boiler, it is necessary to add start-up bed material to the distribution plates. The procedure involves starting the induced draft fan, the primary fan, and the high-pressure fluidization fan, maintaining a certain level of fluidization air flow, and adding bed material to the J-valve return hopper through the feeding port, so that the material is gradually returned to the distribution plates within the bed. Alternatively, without starting the fans, the bed material can be manually added to the stationary distribution plates via the manway.

1. A starting slag bin is designed in front of the furnace; first, an electric crane grab is used to load the starting bed material into the slag bin. 2. Then open the slag discharge door at the bottom of the slag bin, allowing the material to flow from the feeder’s discharge opening onto the boiler’s air distribution plate. 3. Upon receiving the command to start the boiler, start the fan to level the material first, and then conduct a fluidization test.
