These days, molybdenum disulfide grease is generally required to be applied in high-temperature and high-pressure areas. However, there are many types of molybdenum disulfide greases, each with a different range of suitable temperatures. Lithium-based molybdenum disulfide grease can only be used at around 160°C, which is not sufficient for high-temperature applications. I was wondering what is generally used by colleagues to apply when performing equipment maintenance, in order to ensure proper bonding of the bolts?
We use molybdenum disulfide powder; pouring a certain amount of this powder into the screw nuts before tightening them is the best remedy to prevent galling as well as rust.
Molybdenum disulfide is only effective below 350°, right? What is suitable to add in areas with high temperatures above 350°?
