Seeking advice: For heat transfer oil operating at 250 degrees and 0.5 MPa, what type of flow meter should be used for measurement? The pipe diameter is DN150, thank you
Target flow meters, or orifice plate flow meters can both be used
Orifice plate + transmitter. Heat transfer oil has very high viscosity at low temperatures, resulting in slow pressure transmission; light heating is required for use in winter. @jiaguoyun
Orifice plates are better! The casing pressure tube leading to the transmitter is isolated from the transmitter.
Our factory uses high-temperature vortex flow meters. I’ve been using it for 5 or 6 years with no problems, yes!
I’ve used both orifice plates and target types for testing heat transfer oils in the past, and neither has caused any problems. The target type requires less maintenance, and there are domestic manufacturers specializing in this area; I think they’re based in Quanzhou
For high precision, a mass flow meter is required; for lower precision, a porous orifice plate is recommended.
A orifice plate throttle element together with a differential pressure transmitter is sufficient. The pressure lead section needs to be equipped with a balance tube, which also helps with cooling.
How are the transmitter and pressure tap installed? Could someone upstairs provide a simple diagram?
Current mass flow meters can already operate at temperatures of 350°C.
