Yesterday I repaired a rotary valve at the company. The problem with the rotary valve was excessive vibration and unusual noises; after taking it apart, I found that the rotor at the drive end was rubbing against the end face. After cleaning it, I reassembled the valve. The non-driving end is the end fixed by the bearing; I first assembled the components of the non-driving end and then attached the rotor to these components, ensuring that there was enough clearance for normal rotation. After that, I placed these components inside the housing. However, once the end-face bolts were tightened, the rotor could no longer rotate. The same problem persisted even after installing the driving-end components – the rotor still couldn’t rotate once the end-face bolts were tightened. I’m seeking advice on what might be causing this issue. I have assembled several similar rotary valves before, and I’ve never encountered such a problem. Could it be that the rotor shaft is bent? But we don’t have any equipment to detect such deflections.

There is a problem with the bearing alignment. Is it the case that the shaft cannot be rotated after the bearing lock nut is tightened? This issue is easy to resolve; before installing the bearing, it’s sufficient to check whether the shaft shoulder and the outer ring of the bearing are on the same plane to determine if this is the problem
