In multi-stage centrifugal pumps, is the axial force balanced by means of a balance disk because the gap between the balance disk and the balance seat is dynamic, which means that there is no need to adjust this gap? Is it sufficient to just adjust the half-sweep amount? And there can’t be a thrust bearing? 2. Do all systems that use balance drums require thrust bearings? 3. Is it necessary to measure the gap between the balance disc and the balance sleeve when using a combined drum and disc device to balance axial forces? Is it necessary to add a thrust bearing?

There are posts on the forum about balance scales and balance drums; you can search for them. The balance drum can be positioned independently, or it can form a dual-positioning system with a thrust bearing; a single balance drum cannot provide positioning and is unable to eliminate all axial forces
Is there a standard for this gap? As I understand it, the gap between the balance disc and the balance seat is dynamic; it can adjust back and forth on its own. By adding bearings, don’t you prevent it from making those automatic adjustments?
