The beginning of winter is approaching, and workers on the front line are about to face the challenges of the cold weather (in the north). I wonder how the workplaces where people work ensure that their employees have adequate heating in winter – are there duty rooms available in these locations, or is some of the production carried out in enclosed workshops? We welcome everyone to participate actively, share what they experience around them, and offer various suggestions to ensure safe production during the winter. As for our company, some workshops are of the steel-structure type and are outdoors; this winter, measures to protect the workers from the cold need to be considered for them. Those that are located in enclosed workshops are in a better situation. Looking forward to everyone's good ideas or suggestions
Refining units are generally outdoors, but the control rooms are heated; those who go outside, conduct inspections, take samples, work, or are on duty should wear more clothing.
I saw it once before – the restrooms in the service areas along the highway had air conditioning as well. Due to the cold weather, it is necessary to deliberately keep the pipelines that are not used frequently outdoors in operation; this is especially true for those used for discharge at lower points. Regular inspections should be carried out, and these pipelines should be turned on from time to time to prevent freezing.
The control room is heated using waste heat from production. There isn’t any in the factory building.

There is heating available during operation; it’s sufficient to wear the required personal protective equipment, and you can add more clothes if it gets cold inside
I still remember how cold it was in winter back then; there were two water seal tanks that remained warm, and several people would huddle around them to keep warm. Later, an operation room was built, which made things a bit better – in winter, two rooms with heating could be set up quite close to the equipment, so that one wouldn’t get cold even after going outside for a while and coming back
The factory building has open spaces; each floor of the workshop contains an operation room, and I welded heating elements using pipes to connect them to steam
We have installed heating in our control room, using steam generated on-site. There is also an air conditioner, used when the system is shut down.
Steam radiators should not be used in explosion-proof workshops to prevent the vaporization of solvents in the event of a leak, which could result in the formation of explosive gas concentrations.
The steam heating system is no longer in use. Change to plumbing.
