However, the quality, price, and maintenance of online analyzers have not been satisfactory based on past experiences (with the analyzers we’ve used in recent years); even those familiar with instrumentation have criticized their performance. Even the analyzers currently in use are largely inactive. If anyone knows of models that perform better, please let me know. They cost several million dollars, and we originally planned to install new online sulfur analyzers as part of the upgrades, but our superiors rejected this idea. We need to take into account both long-term operational requirements and energy savings; without real-time monitoring, it’s extremely difficult to maintain ultra-low sulfur levels in the fuels. I was wondering, isn’t online monitoring generally used to measure sulfur content? The sulfur content has to be controlled through reactions! If the catalyst doesn’t work, everything is in vain. If it’s designed for diesel from the country of production, then the sulfur content shouldn’t be so easy to exceed, right? If it’s qualified, then it’s qualified – it’s not that easy to see fluctuations. Who would keep making adjustments all the time just for no reason?

If the sulfur content isn’t too high, have you considered taking regular samples for testing? The cost isn’t high either
Considering the Tier 5 gasoline produced in my country, it’s basically unnecessary; online analysis would cost at least a few million less. Increasing the frequency of laboratory tests doesn’t result in much higher costs compared to the original level. By increasing the reflux ratio of the fractionator and reducing the dry point of light gasoline to below 85, the sulfur content of the product can be brought below 10. It is more difficult to reduce catalytic gasoline with high olefins to the required levels, and there is a significant loss in octane rating.
