When the liquid level is high, the inlet pressure is high; under the same head condition, the outlet pressure will also increase. To maintain a constant outlet pressure, the head decreases, while the flow rate of the pump increases.

According to the pump’s flow-rate and head performance curve, head is inversely proportional to flow rate.
As the liquid level rises, the suction pressure increases; consequently, the discharge pressure also rises. With all other conditions remaining unchanged, the discharge flow rate increases as well.
The flow rate increases, so shouldn’t the head decrease?
