For flow-limiting orifice plates on pipes carrying unclean, viscous media, can the orifices for limiting flow be designed below the pipe (in horizontal pipes)? If possible, what are the differences or impacts on the process, or on the orifice plates and pipes, compared to a flow-limiting design in between? If not, what is the reason?
It should be sufficient to ensure that the medium passing through the flow control orifice plate does not stop flowing.
Indirect operation results in a large amount of residue remaining in the hole, which is difficult to deal with once it solidifies.
