A project is currently being designed; there are many mass flow meters available. How can the mass flow data be used not only for control within the DCS but also to feed into the SIS for interlock functions?
Add an isolation module with one input and two outputs, with one route going to the DCS and the other to the SIS.
There is a safety barrier with 1 input and 2 outputs; we use those from P+F, and that’s sufficient – one connection goes to the DCS and the other to the SIS

After entering the safety barrier, the signal is divided into two paths: one goes to the DCS and the other to the SIS; it is also possible for the signal to go to the SIS and then communicate with the DCS.
For SIS, it depends on the level: higher levels require a separate flow meter and separate piping. Generally, a one-input two-output safety barrier is used
If you invest less in instrumentation for your project, you can add one or two safety barriers as suggested by the people above! If more investment is available, it is best to connect the field instruments directly to the SIS; then the SIS AO signals should be sent to the DCS, while the circuit diagnostic communications from the SIS should also be sent to the DCS!
