This post was last edited by WQC on 2015-7-28 at 12:00. As the title suggests, some metering pumps are equipped with safety valves while others do not. Why is that? Are there any relevant regulations?
Several of our metering pumps have not had safety valves at their outlets.
Some reciprocating metering pumps come equipped with safety valves built into the device itself.
Some metering pumps are equipped with safety valves on the pump body, such as safety valves on the hydraulic side, as well as smaller internal safety valves that are not visible from the outside.
A safety valve must be installed at the outlet of the metering pump, and the pipeline leading from the outlet of this safety valve should be connected to the pump inlet or to the medium storage tank.
Generally, design institutes will design safety valves for the pump outlet pipes, but nowadays many manufacturers equip the metering pumps themselves with built-in safety valves that provide overpressure relief to protect the pump itself.
It’s best to install one and connect the outlet of the safety valve to the material tank; otherwise, if overpressure occurs, the result will be quite spectacular – with liquid spraying everywhere
It should be available; some pumps come equipped with safety valves, and if not, a safety valve needs to be installed during piping.
Generally, pumps are equipped with safety valves of their own. These built-in safety valves serve to protect the pump itself, rather than the equipment and pipelines downstream. Therefore, in typical designs, an additional safety valve is installed at the pump’s outlet to protect the pipelines and equipment downstream.

Only hydraulic diaphragm pumps are equipped with a safety valve.
