In large and very large air separation units, the lower and upper columns are designed to be arranged side by side; both columns are packed columns. However, due to the extremely high total height of these two columns (usually greater than 70 meters), in order to ensure smooth flow of liquid oxygen from the lower column to the upper column, they are placed side by side, which requires the addition of two additional pumps for circulating liquid oxygen. However, by effectively reducing the exhaust pressure of the air compressor, the energy-saving effect is also significant~~
That’s exactly what I do: everyone goes to the ground level. If they stay too high on the tower, the liquid from below can’t reach them. It’s also easy to install.

The main factors contributing to the overall height of air separation units include the use of packing in the lower sections of the tower, multiple stages of primary cooling, and larger-sized pipelines. Generally speaking, it is recommended to use an upper and lower arrangement whenever possible.
Generally, an 80,000-level air separation unit is installed on the tower ground.
