There is a small tank area that needs to be equipped with automatic control systems; it includes several remote-mounted level gauges and several shut-off valves, as well as alarm and interlock shutdown functions. Since it is not planned to set up a control room, it is desired to install local control panels that can be used outdoors right next to the tank area. How should this be done? Seeking guidance

It is feasible to do this: use cabinets with a high IP rating, and inside them install PLCs that do not require an upper-level controller (models capable of withstanding harsh environments), along with control buttons and indicator lights. If it is inconvenient to set up the PLC, a relay circuit control can be used as an alternative.
Is there a SCADA system? If available, an RTU system can be installed; the signals from the tank area are sent to the RTU, which then transmits them via serial signals to the SCADA system.
Buy a small PLC; Siemens’ 300 series will be sufficient. A proper field control cabinet as well
How about making the on-site control cabinet into a waterproof box and adding a small rain cover?
