What are the characteristics of anti-corrosion coatings for cooling water?
Cooling water anti-corrosion and scale-inhibiting coatings have the following characteristics: 1) Since these coatings are immersed in cooling water for extended periods of time, they need to possess good shielding properties to prevent water molecules, oxygen molecules, and corrosive substances from penetrating through the coating and coming into contact with the carbon steel substrate, thereby avoiding corrosion. They also need to prevent scale-forming ions in the water (such as calcium ions and carbonate ions) from passing through the coating and adhering to the metal surface to form scale. In addition, the chemical stability of these coatings in cooling water is essential. 2) Cooling water anti-corrosion and scale-inhibiting coatings should have strong adhesion to the surface of the base metal. 3) The presence of such coatings should not significantly reduce the heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger. 4) These coatings should be able to prevent the attachment of organisms and microbial damage; they must be able to withstand high temperatures on the walls of the heat exchanger tubes without being damaged; and they should also have the ability to resist attacks from active chlorine, oils, and other substances present in the water.
I haven’t seen any good ones in all these years; maybe it’s due to quality issues with the construction, as they keep falling off.
It is recommended to use corrosion-resistant metals; using paint in this area is not very reliable
